Silent Auctions, Going Once, Going Twice, Sold!

Silent auctions are very good way to raise money at an event. Most items are donated from companies in the surrounding area who are able to deduction their donations on their taxes. However, there are many things that go on to make a silent auction successful.

Type of Event

Depending on the type of event will help determine the type of silent auction items you will have. If it is for a fancier high end event you will need to make sure to have higher end and more expensive or unique items. The same goes for a more casual event.

Items

High End Event

  • Signed Jerseys from any kind of sports team
  • Wine baskets
  • Vacations
  • Tickets to a show or sporting event

Smaller Event

For smaller events anything that generally would cost less than $100 would be appropriate.

  • Tickets to sporting event at the local university
  • A package of movie tickets
  • Dinner voucher at a local restaurant

Presentation

This part is key if you can make the items look desirable even if it is just a package of movie tickets you can make anyone want to bid on the item. Below is a picture of what a good silent auction table set up should look like.

  1. Dear Jessica,
I am organizing fundraising for the victims of a terrible fire that took place in Chile last weekend, 4,000 homes of low income families were lost, 20 deaths and 11,000 people evacuated living in camps. I reached out to several people and they are interested in helping me, like President Johnson offered his endorsement.
I was wondering if you would be so kind of helping us with your expertise in organizing this event. I have no experience but I have all the will.
    Thank you so much
    Kind regards
    Ricardo
