Let’s Add Some Irish Charm

In honor of Saint Patrick’s Day this weekend I wanted to showcase some ways to have an upscale professional Irish or Saint Patrick’s Day themed party.

This should be everyone’s favorite part of a Saint Patrick’s Day event! Below are my favorite festive drinks.

Sparkling Shamrock Champagne

Just add melon liqueur and chunks of honeydew
pieces so it has that special green tint. Garnish the
rim with green sugar for a sweet touch.

1 bottle of your favorite dry (Brut) champagne or sparkling wine (around 750 mL
12 ounces of Midouri melon liqueur
Honeydew melon pieces
Green sanding or rimming sugar to garnish

1 ounce Creme de Menthe
1/2 ounce Creme de Cocoa
1/2 ounce Absolut vodka
3 ounces 7-Up
Andes Mint (optional garnish)

Then there is always the traditional Irish beer, Guinness, and people always add a little bit of food coloring to any type of lighter beers. Also any Irish crème coffees would also be a great hit!

Pot of Gold Scavenger Hunt

This works best with an event where there is a mix of people from the community. This is also a way to get people to start networking with one another and help facilitate breaking the ice. Some ideas for people to find are:

  • Someone who has an Irish heritage
  • Someone drinking an Irish crème coffee
  • Someone NOT wearing green (accessories do not count as clothing)
  • Someone with an Irish accent
  • Find some who keeps saying “Kiss me I’m Irish!”

These are just some ideas and anything can be added or taken away from this list.

Traditional Irish Dinner

If your event is serving dinner this would be the prime opportunity to serve only traditional foods from Ireland. Below are some examples:

Corn Beef and Cabbage                                                          Soda Bread

Shepherds_Pie     Chocolate_Cheesecake

Shepherd’s Pie                                                      Bailey’s Cheesecake

If I were to choose the type of entertainment I would have at a Saint Patrick’s Day event I would definitely choose Irish step dancers! Its first roots may have been in Pre-Christian Ireland, but Irish dance was also partially influenced by dance forms on the Continent, especially the quadrille dances. Traveling dancing masters taught all over Ireland as late as the early 1900s.

All GREEN Everywhere

Lastly just have all your decorations be green! Also play up shamrocks, pots of gold and leprechauns. While making everything green and Irish themed make sure not to make anything too tacky always try your hardest to class up any decorations for a professional event.
